Sushi Tango in Minneapolis

I had an amazing time! It was my first time getting sushi and eating with chopsticks. I sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed watching them craft the beautiful food items! Everyone was so friendly and outgoing!!! We got the catipillar, laughing salmon, and octopus all in which was so delicious!

Love this place for happy hour! It's good anytime but we will drive in just for happy hour. Sushi is good, classic dishes are well done, portions are decent, drinks menu is interesting and tasty.

This place is always good. Sushi is great here, so are the mussels. Don't make it here enough since I have to travel to get there, but definitely worth it.

Food was good. I'd give it a 4 star. Needs some renovation though. Getting a bit old. Esp the bathroom.

We went for happy hour and the prices were incredible. We got two rolls, two appetizers, and dessert for $28. All of the food was delicious and the portion sizes were good. I would definitely recommend this place.

Conflicting review. Sometimes great but sometimes itll take a few years to serve you. I get my rolls 1 hr faster at the sushi buffet

Love the food but the price is ridiculously expensive.

This restaurant is not good for People of COLOR specially if you are an INDIAN. They will make you feel awkward and on the top of that their manager will support his server. So don’t expect your complaints will make any sense to him. I don’t know how the heck they got the best restaurant award in 2010 where they don’t know how to handle with different races. A dark spot in a beautiful city Minneapolis!

The restaurant wasn't too busy when we sat down, but it did slowly fill up (maybe 70% capacity). We waited for over an hour and still didn't get our drinks. Management needs to step up the support.

Tango is the ultimate and intimate Host for his restaurant. A great place to enjoy some authentic sushi at the sushi bar with friendly and flexible sushisans, great tasty dishes, a well stocked bar with upbeat bartending, all reasonably priced. Try the happy hour.

Low quality fish, iffy service, brought the wrong food and we were treated like it was an inconvenience go to wakame or Kiku

Top notch sushi. The regular entree size is kind of small, but taste great. Never seems to be too busy, but even then the service isn’t always the best.

By far the worst experience I’ve ever had going out. My bartender Anna (younger latina girl), was extremely rude. Acted like she was too good to be there. Whole time we could tell she wanted to leave. Heard her tell her friends that she would gladly serve them liquor even if they were underage, heard her boost about how she drinks all the time. She clearly wasn’t old enough to be having drinks. Will be contacting liquor commissions and making a report, starting an investigation. No way a bartender should serve alcohol to a minor.

They have a great Happy Hour menu and the most professional uptown staff. Check them out!

They serve big dishes and for fair pricing. very friendly staff. Will visit again.

This place is NOT for people of color. I'm a doordasher, who came here to pick up food. I politely walked up to the area where I saw the baggage up food and showed him my order on the app and was told to see someone else about picking up theorder. The guy rushes over to me and told me.to sit and have a seat while he check on my order, I nicely said no thanks I'djust like to pick up the food. I expressed my concerns about it being no parking and risking getting ticketed for where I was parked... (in uptown mpls, there is NO patking)He said sit down....I said no, I don't want to sit. He said they couldn't just have people roaming around. That was very insulting, I'm not an animal or a lost person. Simple wanted to pick up my order. Which was already bagged up and waiting. Then a Japanese guy went to the counter and grabbed the order and slammed it in my hand......NEVER WILL I PICK UP FOOD FOR THEM AGAIN!. Rude, impolite and disrespectful

My husband and I have been going to the Sushi Tango in Uptown for over 15 years (we had our first date here - when it was located across the hallway). Always good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff! My favorite roll there is the Centipede roll. Give them a try!

Great place for a date Good food, good drinks, great customer service and nice ambiance

Food is great. If you like to wait, this is the place for you. The servers takes their time to take your order, and process your card for payment. The tables aren't being clean fast enough... it seems like it's being clean 'on demand'. If they're not busy, tables would go unbus and unclean for 15 to 25 min. I've seen it, I've timed it. This isn't an understaffed place, it's just a place with staff that are slow. On the other note. When I left a tip, I meant it for my sushi chef, NOT for my server... Later another night, I found out my sushi chef got nothing. My sushi chef did most for me, they took my order, prep my food, and serve my food... and my server brought me my water and check, and took all the tip!? Management needs to step it up.

Nothing about this place pleases me. I get to Sushi and it just tastes off. I get drinks from here and the drinks also tastes off. It is close to my apartment and is located near many other places that I frequent often. But when your friend suggest you come here, I suggest you ask them if there's another place they would like to get sushi. The atmosphere and interior is pretty to look at and there's even a patio out back. But something about this place always makes me regret coming here. I just know that I can get better sushi at a lower price and honestly this food is not exactly off the charts quality. It's ok. Not my choice.

This place used to be so fun. Service has gotten steadily worse, until we visited on Monday and were served by a drunk bartender who was more interested in taking shots with the wait staff and bragging about his other job as a restaurant consultant than doing his job. When one of our items came out wrong, he cut me off as I was trying to explain what we’d actually ordered. Must be an impatient, rude drunk! We’ll never go back.

Staff is quick & friendly. Our Sushi Chef, Anthony, was on the ball. Very helpful!I did not get our server's name, but she laughed at a very dumb joke I made (and anyone who can laugh at my jokes deserves two thumbs up).We went for our 1 year Anniversary (as it was where we had our first date) & enjoyed a lot of food. Happy Hour is all day on Sunday.Everything tasted great. Happy tummies.

My wife and I have been coming here for 15+ years and always have a good experience, good food and friendly staff. We always go to the one in Uptown, haven't tried out the Woodbury location.

I've always had a good night at Sushi Tango! Great staff. The only things I'd personally change are nixing the big screen TV's playing sports, and better music overhead. Otherwise the sushi is fantastic, and so is the rest of the food. Top-notch. :)

The food is great! Although, went back recently and the food seems to taste a little different. It doesn't seem to be consistent. Otherwise the service is great.

Creative selection of rolls and generously thick cuts of fish on the sushi. Fresh. Great selection of saki, and a sorta seedy ambiance were added plusses. Service was good and the petite Asian girl.....I don’t know what her job is, but just seeing her added to the enjoyment of the meal. Look forward to going back next time I’m in Minneapolis.

Place was nearly empty but service took awhile. Completely neglected us for drink orders. I had to ask for a soda... the edamame was salty and basic, but thats okay with edamame, in my opinion. The gyoza was pretty good. The sushi rolls we had were good, nothin special, but still tasty.

Always a great place to come eat sushi. Also great place to go for dates and drinks. A BIG TIP: Always call to reserve seating ahead of time, because you never know how busy they can get and the wait can be a while sometimes.

Loved the food. Great sushi!! The summer fling roll is my favorite. Update (Jan. 2020) Came in today for $1 oysters on Sunday and loved it. The sashimi deluxe is a great choice. Fresh fish that melts in your mouth. I didn't like the rolls with thai pepper. It didn't go well with sushi. It overpowers the fish flavor. Service was slow. It was a quiet afternoon with few customers.

I have dined and drank here for years, but the other night I had a very positive experience. They were obviously short staffed, the manager was running food, the server was taking the entire restaurant, and the bartender was picking up any other slack. My food was exactly as expected, my drink from the bar was as expected, but I didn't expect that of great of service from those working so short staffed. Thank you to Rosie, Mai, and the bartender is from Wisconsin, he remains nameless.

Located within a mall, this restaurant offers a great dinner environment for a date, or get-together with friends. It is dimly lit, and offers a good level of intimacy. I stay away from the main menu, as the portions are rather small.The sushi here is creative. Opt in for the specialty rolls. They are more expensive than the standard "California rolls", etc, but are well plated, and well worth the price.

Ordered a variety of sushi, some tofu and a miso soup via bite squad. The food was really good. Really awesome sushi. A little short on pickled ginger though.

Good location in uptown with a decent pricing. Good happy hour deals but I feel they have been slipping when it comes to consistency and overall quality. Recently went for a birthday party on a Friday night around 7pm. My wife and i ordered apps, sushi and entrees. They forgot about what we ordered and it was a little chaotic. The sushi was fresh but cuts were thin and sauces were heavy on the rolls taking away from the taste. Bulgogi was a good portion but drenched in the sauce also. Meat was pretty tender. But everything was just decent with taste. Probably won't look to go back anytime soon

If I could put 0 stars I would. Ordered 4 rolls and they literally tasted like rice and nothing else. I would get grocery store sushi over this place any day of the week. Awful. Not to mention after having it delivered (which sorry to say had no detrimental effect on the quality, just the sushi itself was terrible) they requested us to drive it back so they could "look at it" - maybe you want to try tasting it? Because it has no flavor whatsoever. Upon arriving and explaining our issue they refused to give us a refund or anything. Try Wakame if you want bombs sushi and amazing wontons.

The food was amazing, but the service was terrible. Went there on a Wednesday night, it wasn't very busy, but all our appetizers came out at different times. Some were finished before others got theirs. Same with the main course. We waited forever for beverages, and some of us weren't even asked if we wanted a drink. The server was very aloof and didn't even get us water for 20 minutes after we got there. It's also very loud near the bar. Don't sit near the bar unless that's your thing. It's too bad, because all the food was incredible, but I don't think I'd go back.

The only good thing I could say is the happy hour menu has a lot of options on it. Otherwise, nothing else worth a trip to this place. Slow and unfriendly service. The rice on the sushi rolls are so thick that I thought I was only eating rice and seaweed.

The steak and shrimp combo bento box was not what I expected. I thought it was going to be a stir fry, but it was a chunk of steak (poor quality) with teriyaki sauce on top, and tempura shrimp and vegetables.

Sushi Tango never disappoints! They have been in business for more than 15 years and still standing! Sunday is one of our favorite days to go! They have Dollar Oysters, app and drink specials! We love getting the Flame Roll... yummy! Also we love their variety and not just their sushi. We get the edamame, miso soup, vegetable gyoza, tamago, lobster sashimi, $1oysters. They have fun drinks and specials. Great place to watch the game and also to do a date night or large groups!

Service was a little slow but the Sushi was quite good. Good atmosphere ,not great. Happy hour on Sat. Had good food and drink prices.

Maybe if the sushi "chefs" spent as much time rolling as they did drinking and running their mouths then all of the patrons wouldn't have to wait over an hour for oysters and sushi. We use to frequent but the last three times we have been the food has gotten steadily worse. The chicken wings were horrible. Shaken out of a freezer bag into the deep fryer. KFC does getter and that is very disheartening. Our server was the only thing that kept me from walking out. He knows who he is! It is very sad to see a restaurant we once enjoyed devolve into a place that seems to be struggling to stay in business. Needless to say that is the last time I will be dining there. R.I.P. Sushi Tango...

I came in on Sunday 3/1 at 2:15. Ordered drinks. Waited 40 minutes no drinks no one stopped by the table. Asked for the manager. Apparently the manager was our server. He never acknowledged the fact we had waited. I never saw our drinks even come up. Sushi ordered had to wait over an hour never came. What was really irritating is that they never even acknowledged the fact we were waiting or anything. Worst service I have ever had in my life. In essence there was no service. On our way out when we finally had enough he brought my friends beer even tho we had ordered 2 drinks again never acknowledged any of his poor service at all. As many times as I have come here. I will never come again
